An Awkward Break-Up With Summer

dearsummer

Dear Summer,

I feel that it’s time for us to take a break. Sure, it was fun at first. Remember that late night when we did drunken gymnastics? It was a blast and, luckily, no one got hurt. Let’s face it, that could have been a really bad idea. Remember when we had a Dance Central tournament and I was dominating? That was fun…until I had that third shot. They’re not lying when they say drinking slows your reaction speed. Remember how you made me work six days a week and late into the night while you just hung around being gorgeous all the time? I’m sick of it. Stop being all hot for everyone else, but me.

During the winter, we talked about being together. We daydreamed of flip flops, bathing suits, and tank tops. We dreamed of a time where we would no longer need jackets. Can you imagine? We were so young and in love.

We had good times, we went to a few great parties, and you made me tan. But, you also sunburned my shoulders.  We discussed this last year and you promised you wouldn’t do it again. You lied to me. I’m so naive to keep falling for that sunny personality of yours. Will I never learn?

There’s something I have to confess. Please, sit down if you’re not already. (Can you even sit? I don’t know…sorry, that’s probably a personal question…)

I’m leaving you for Fall. Before you stop reading, please let me explain. It’s just that I can’t seem to resist boots, tights, and light scarves. Fall gives these to me. Everyday. Whenever I want. And he also celebrates my birthday, which you NEVER have. But you always have time for the 4th of July, don’t you? Selfish…

I think we should re-assess things for about a year. This will give us plenty of time to remember what we loved so much about each other. Maybe, give us a chance to rekindle our passion.

Sorry for making us the Ross and Rachel of human-season relationships, but I feel like I owe it to myself to see what other weather patterns are out there.

See ya. Wouldn’t wanna be ya,

Courtney

P.S. Don’t worry. You know we’re totally gonna get back together. Love you. Kisses. Let’s do it again next year 🙂
